Yes! Chiropractic care is very effective, particularly for pain relief, especially when addressing conditions like back and neck pain. Over the past 20 years studies have shown that chiropractic care, is safe and effective for treating low back pain, neck pain, headaches and other conditions relating to the musculoskeletal system.  Chiropractic care has also been found to lead to better patient outcomes, as it is drug-free and a non-invasive approach to treating common musculoskeletal conditions.

A chiropractic adjustment is a manual therapy technique used by chiropractors to improve spinal mobility and reduce pain. The chiropractor examines the patient's spine to identify areas of restricted movement, and then applies a specific adjustment to the affected area. This applied force is done by the doctor using their hands, an instrument, or even gravity to manipulate the joint or vertebrae. This force aims to correct spinal misalignments and improve joint function. The adjustment helps to relieve pain and stiffness in the spine, improves range of motion, restore proper spinal health, and promote overall musculoskeletal health.

Yes, chiropractic adjustments are safe and effective when performed by a trained and licensed chiropractor. Going to a chiropractor should be your first consult when addressing pain, as chiropractic care can help patients to avoid drugs and risky surgeries. Statistics show that adjustments are significantly safer than taking over-the-counter pain medications.

Not all people are candidates for chiropractic care. This is why Back to Health of Anthem has a strict new patient protocol, taking a detailed health history and x-rays to rule out any potential risks.

No, all chiropractic patients are not adjusted the same way. Chiropractic care is customized to each patient's unique needs and conditions, including their age, medical history, and the specific source of their pain. Chiropractors use various techniques and tools to assess a patient's spine and nervous system and determine the most appropriate course of treatment.

The popping or cracking sound sometimes heard during a chiropractic adjustment is a result of a phenomenon called cavitation, which occurs when gas bubbles in the synovial fluid surrounding joints are released. This release of gas, primarily nitrogen and carbon dioxide, is what creates the audible sound.

This sound is a natural byproduct of the adjustment and doesn't indicate any damage to the joint. Conversely, the absence of a popping sound doesn't mean the adjustment was ineffective.

No, chiropractors don't only work on the spine. While they are well-known for spinal adjustments, they also treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions throughout the body, including joints, muscles, and soft tissues. They focus on the body's overall health and how different parts work together.

They also address issues in other areas, including headaches, shoulder pain, knee pain, TMJ, and even conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome. Chiropractic care emphasizes the body's interconnectedness, viewing it as a whole rather than just isolated parts.

Chiropractors use adjustments (manipulations) to realign joints, but they also utilize other techniques, including soft tissue massage, physical therapy exercises, and advice on posture and lifestyle.

Yes, osteoporosis patients can generally get chiropractic care, but it's crucial to have an experienced chiropractor who understands the condition and can tailor treatment accordingly. Chiropractic care can be beneficial in managing pain, improving mobility, and preventing falls, which can be a significant risk for people with osteoporosis.

It's essential for chiropractors to be aware of your osteoporosis and to adjust their techniques to accommodate the patient's condition. This might involve using lower-force techniques, soft tissue massage, or other gentle approaches.
